EXPO COMM MÉXICO 2002 - a complete success.
8% increase in the number of square meters over 2001 and 75% of the 2003 exhibition already sold out.
Bethesda, MD, May 6, 2002- E.J. Krause de México and Reed Exhibition
Companies presented the final results from the 11th edition of the number one
telecommunications business forum in Mexico and Latin America, EXPO COMM MEXICO 2002.
The event, which lasted four days and was the first one to take place at the Centro
de Exposiciones y Convenciones Las Américas, was deemed "a success."
Total attendance was 29,979 (21,932 visitors and 8,047 exhibitors) who gathered
to offer and learn about the most advanced technological solutions available in the
realm of telecommunications.
Early sales of the 2003 show resulted in 75% of the exhibition space already sold
out. This is clear evidence of the industry's interest in the creation of business
and the development of technology in Mexico.
"It is extremely satisfying to look at the results obtained from EXPO COMM MÉXICO
2002, especially when the global economy is facing a slowdown. Based on the
participation of over 300 companies, on the number and quality of attendees, and on
the corporate creativity, technology and information seen and experienced at the
event, we can certainly say that the telecommunications industry and this most
significant forum remain at the forefront of the process of development in our
country," said Paul St. Amour, General Director of E.J. Krause de México.
St. Amour added, "All exhibitors indicated that the event could be easily
compared to any other of its kind seen in industrialized countries, and that it was
evident that businesses of all shapes and technologies came together during a single
international forum to present the most updated outlook of how supply currently
stands within the industry."
Regarding EXPO COMM MÉXICO 2002, Karyn Mashima, Vice President of Global Strategies
and Technology for Avaya, indicated, "This is a highly relevant forum in the realm
of telecommunications, having become the ideal scenario for Avaya to introduce its
products to a market that holds enormous potential."
Jacques Payer, Executive Director of EADS Telecom and CEO of EADS Defense & Security
Networks, made reference to the significance EXPO COMM MÉXICO 2002 has reached "as
the meeting point for telecommunications suppliers in México, during a time when
security is of utmost importance for every nation in the world."
Douglas Wallace, Engineering Systems Director for the Latin America and the Caribbean
division at Enterasys Networks, commented on his participation at EXPO COMM MÉXICO and said,
"It is the perfect stage where companies are able to converge with the decision makers
and starring characters of this very important and strategic sector of telecommunications
in México."
Robert J. Turkovic, Communications Director at Motorola Latin America, was said
to be extremely pleased with the outstanding infrastructure seen at the new venue.
"We extend our most heartfelt congratulations to the organizers of the event on
their efforts. This new venue shows the solid base México is standing on, and the
response on the part of the exhibitors was terrific. The continued growth of EXPO
COMM MÉXICO 2002 will certainly be helpful to the sector."
TELEFORUM 2002, considered to be the center for professional telecommunications
information in México, welcomed national and international industry experts who
shared the most critical issues seen in the industry today, as well as training
knowledge in wireless technology solutions specifically geared towards small- and
medium-sized companies and mobile technology know-how.
Attendance levels for TELEFORUM, as well as for keynote conferences, exceeded
expectations with 1,604 participants.
This year, a high percentage of participating companies developed marketing
strategies, launchings, business presentations and press conferences as a result of
the week of telecommunications in Mexico.
EXPO COMM MÉXICO 2003 will be held February 18-21, 2003 at the Centro de
Exposiciones y Convenciones Las Américas in México City, México.
